I remember the very first CCC, it was in 1992 and I was 12 years old. We made ankle bracelets with beads and I tied mine around my ankle and burnt the string so it wouldn't fall off. I wore that beloved ankle bracelet for years and years and years--and I mean YEARS!
See, there I am in college at our Student Ward retreat in Bear Lake eating a delicious hoagie sandwich. My bracelet is right around my ankle.
Olp! There it is again around my ankle at our Student Ward Halloween party.
And again, resting right on top of my 80's sock roll.
It's no secret that I enjoy dressing 80's, right?
Fast forward to the summer of 2004 when I was 24 years old and "great with child", my first to be exact. As you can imagine, it being summer and all, I no longer had ankles. . . more like cankles, if you will.
When I went to the hospital to deliver my summer baby, the nice nurse informed me that my beautiful, memorable, sentimental and beloved homemade CCC bracelet would surely have to go. You see, on my newly acquired cankles, my bracelet was cutting off my circulation. That nice nurse found a pair of scissors and just like that, snipped it right off my ankle. I was truly sad to see it go, but, it was time I guess. :(
I won't tell you how deep the indentations from the beads were into my skin, because that would just be embarrassing!
We have had some fabulous times and made some great memories at Cousin Camp over the years. What a fun tradition it's been!
And of course, this year was just as fun with the
"fin-tastic" racin'

song singin'
good food eatin'

memory makin'

movie watchin'

smore roastin'

horseshoe playin'
good time we had.
And just so our amazingly awesome 'family medley' that we wrote and performed for the Saturday night CCC program doesn't ever get forgotten, I'll record it here.
{Vanilla Ice tune}
Yo! C.C.C! Let's kick it!
Dum dum dum dum dum dum dum. . . ice ice baby.
Dum dum dum dum dum dum dum. . . ice ice baby.
Alright, stop! Collaberate and listen!
Thompson's are back with a brand new edition.
{Grease song tune}
You got chills, they're multiplin'. And you're losin' control.
From the power we're supplin', it's electrifing! Zzzzzt!
{The Hills Are Alive tune}
The hills are alive with the sound of Coburn's. Ahhh-ahh-ah-ah!
With songs they have song for these 20 years. Ahhh-ahh-ah-ah!
{Stayin' Alive tune}
You can tell we're a Coburn by the way we walk,
we're a lovin' clan, we love to talk!
Whether you're a Coburn or whether you're an Adams
you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Whether you're a Thalman or whether you're an Anderson
you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah ah ah ah stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah ah ah ah stayin' aliiiiiiive.
{Open Arms tune}
So now we come to you with open arms, hoping
you'll see what you're love means to us. Open arms.
"Welcome to the goody room!"
