Just after his bath.

I LOVE his hair! We had to have him sport a mohawk just like his brother. :)

One surprise after another!

Hayzen Todd

7 lbs. 5 oz.

19 in.

3:12 pm

First surprise: I ended up having to have a c-section.

Because of your placenta issues you ask?

No, because he decided he wanted to be born sideways. :)

Last Tuesday at my doctor's appointment he was head down and "engaging nicely into the birthing canal" were the doctor's exact words. When we got to the hospital I was checked and no presenting parts were felt. So the ultrasound machine came out and what do you know, he was transverse! To make a long story short, the doctor tried to flip him into head down position, after many painful attempts it worked, pitocin was started and contractions started every 5 minutes, about 2 hours later the doctor came back to break my water, I was checked and the wrong parts were presenting, he now was breech! Yes, that's right, breech! End result, a lovely c-section.

Second surprise: Look at all his long black hair! I love it!

Third surprise: (but not much of a surprise) Avery and Quinn are in love with their new brother. They ask to hold him all the time. Avery is so careful with him and can't stop kissing his head. One of Quinney's new favorite things to do is help Mommy or Daddy by handing us a diaper and the wipes. It seems like Hayzen is fitting right in with not much of an adjustment...not yet anyway. :)

We are in love with our new little fella, he is such a sweet baby!

One Last Hurrah!

For our last weekend as a family of four,
we decided to go to the Demolition Derby! Wahoo!!

After working all day in the yard and in the house getting last minute things taken care of for our little fellas arrival we rewarded ourselves to a nice dinner at TGI Fridays.
(May I recommend the Chicken Fajitas, they're delicious! :)
Then off to the derby we went!

It was a first for Avery and Quinn and boy was it exciting! Right when the first heat started Quinn just about jumped out of his shorts! Ha ha! It was so loud and not knowing what to expect it scared him to death. He started crying and frantically reached for me so Justin handed him off, he buried his head in my shirt and wouldn't look up. Eventually he got more used to the noise and started watching the chaos. Can you see the tears in his eyes? Poor thing!

This is how he looked most of the time! :)

It was a great derby filled with action everywhere you looked. Two cars got flipped onto their sides and this one went all the way over. Cool!

They even did a heat with trucks. I've never seen that before but it was very entertaining!

By the end of the night we were all having a blast, including Quinney, who would still cover his ears occasionally, but it was so much fun! :)

Can't wait for our next family adventure as a family of five!

Tomorrow will be our little guys birthday! :)

Wish us luck!

a family treasure

My Dad hand crafted this little rocking cradle when my older sister was a brand new baby back in 1970, nearly 40 years ago. My Mom sewed the little bumpers and sheet for the cradle and applied the sweet little wallpaper appliques on the wood. Isn't it cute?

All my sisters plus me slept in this little thing when we were newborns as well as most of my nieces and nephews. We used it for both Avery and Quinn and now it's ready for our new little guy who will be with us in just 3 short days. :)

This is definitely a family treasure!

She Did It!

Last night was Avery's preschool graduation. She did a great job singing and doing all the fun hand actions to the songs. We were kind of sitting far away so my pictures didn't turn out so well but don't worry, we got it all on video camera too! :)

Miss Penny was a fantastic teacher and she did so many fun things and cute projects with the kids, we were lucky to have her as Avery's teacher!

And of course here's Avery with her biggest fan..... :)

My little girl is growing up! I can't believe she will be starting kindergarten this year! Whoa, time flies! I am so proud of my little Avery, she has such a cute, sweet and funny personality and she makes my laugh and smile every single day! Great job on your accomplishment sweet pea, we love you so much!

Bees Game

Justin surprised us with tickets to the Salt Lake Bees game for a fun activity on family night. We had great seats, right along the 3rd base line just 9 rows up. It was so much fun!

The kids LOVED it, especially when the Bee came over close by us. :)

The weather was perfect and we ended up staying for the entire game, we were all enjoying ourselves so much.

What could be better than getting a hot dog at the ballpark, munching on plenty of snacks and treats and watching a good ole' baseball game???

We had a great time! The kids are already asking when we can go back to another game, or in Quinn's words, "another show". :) SO FUN!

Something WICKED this way comes.....

Magnificent!

I was so excited this day had finally arrived! I had been looking forward to it since Justin surprised me with tickets for my birthday last month. The show was SO GOOD! I would go again today, right this second really, if only I had another ticket! :) The singing was phenomenal, the acting was top-notch and the story line with all the humor and drama was outstanding!

I LOVED IT!!!

(sorry folks, the puffy pregnancy face is here to stay!) :)

The girl sitting next to me and the girl sitting next to Justin were SO into it. They were singing to their hearts desire to every single song and even shedding a few tears throughout the performance. Yes, I'm being serious, they were that into it! The girl next to me even wore a green dress with matching green shoes.....coincidence???...I think not! :o)

Awww, what fun we had! Why do days like this have to end? Sigh!
