As tradition would have it, we packed a lunch, snacks, 'sun-scream' {as my kids call it}, and made our annual trek to Bear Lake for the day with Mommy's family before school started. This year we went to the North Beach, with the best sandcastle building sand around! It was SO fun and relaxing!
The kids had a grand ole time playing in the lake, building things in the sand and relaxing on the beach.

Would hate for that little white boy of mine to get sun-burnt! :)
I was debating if I was going to go this year because I would be flying solo. We went on a Friday so Justin was at work. :( Making the long drive by myself and then being in the sun ALL DAY with my 4 little hoodlums alone wasn't sounding that appealing to me. Not to mention packing for a full day of fun in the sun for a Mom, three kids and a baby. . . sunscreen, swimsuits, beach towels, lunch, snacks, drinks, bottles, formula, blankets, diapers, swim diapers, pack-n-play, change of clothes, beach toys, etc. etc. etc. Phew! Now that's a lot of crap!
But, alas, my sisters did a little sweet talking to me and the adventure started sounding more do-able by the second, even for my weak, anxiety ridden, OCD mind. :)
I'm pretty sure it was knowing that we would have Mom's AND Julie's shade canopies with us that sealed the deal for me! Seriously though, how could I keep a 4.5 month old baby, who can't use sunscreen yet, in the sun all day without him getting sun-burnt? Wrap a blanket around him and then try and keep him from smothering to death? I don't think so!
You see, do you see what my mind does to me and what I have to deal with every.day.of.my.life??! ha ha!
It's okay, you can feel bad for me. Really, you can.
I certainly do sometimes! :)
We had a great time! I'm so glad I got my witts about me and went! It was a really fun day!
